We asked Kurt Slanaker, who practically makes it his job to know everyone and everywhere to go (his real gig is Director of Membership at Spring Place), to curate an insider’s guide to downtown.
He walked us through his ideal summer day date (with the option to extend into evening), and it begins with a mouth-watering brunch at Tiny’s NYC.
He also suggests picking up some wheels from Tokyo Bike NYC and taking a joyride through Manhattan. If you’re not in the market for new bikes, CitiBike is an easy substitute!
He likes the idea of winding up at the Guggenheim for an early afternoon weaving through the museum, and afterward to conveniently take a break for a picnic in Central Park complete with some summer rosé and charcuterie.
After a leisurely meal under the shade of trees and some easy conversation, he invites us to create your own evening adventure: either go for a movie with a view at the Rooftop Cinema Club or make your way back downtown to Brooklyn and end the day with a nightcap from Metta, perhaps the Day Eleven, a citrusy mezcal cocktail.
Check out the list for more ideas of places to go, plus style to suit a summer date adventure.
